The Energy Efficiency Law of May 20, 2016 established the obligation to periodically conduct an energy audit of an enterprise. Its purpose is to analyze the energy consumption profile of the plant and present optimal solutions to reduce operating costs. Both buildings and heating and technological installations accounting for a minimum of 90% of the enterprise’s energy consumption are audited.

Advice on the selection of optimal technologies to reduce energy consumption also includes renewable energy sources that may be subject to subsidies.

The audit must be performed and then updated every four years. The next deadline is September 30, 2021.

Establishments which:

– Have at least 250 full-time equivalent employees, regardless of the form of employment

or

– Annual turnover for sales exceeds 50 million euros

The completed audit must be reported to the Energy Regulatory Authority and kept for 5 years.

Obligation to perform an energy audit

The company’s audit should be conducted on the basis of up-to-date, representative and measurable data on the consumption of all energy carriers (in the case of electricity, the power demand should be provided). In addition, it is important to make available to the auditor an up-to-date building inventory. Making such data available makes it possible to conduct a proper analysis of energy consumption in buildings, industrial installations and transportation. The performance of the audit should be based on a life-cycle cost analysis of the building (or other facility, e.g.: an installation or means of transportation). This makes it possible to identify long-term savings in energy consumption.

Thermal imaging inspection of a manufacturing plant

A common requirement is to perform a visual inspection to assess the condition of the building and conduct the necessary tests. Among the examinations performed during the visual inspection of the building can be included the performance of a thermal imaging survey, allowing the location of thermal bridges, which are the place where large heat losses occur. TERMOCENT has performed a thermal imaging survey of more than 4,300 buildings over 10 years. If you want to locate the places of energy losses, so that you can effectively reduce them, we cordially invite you to take advantage of our company’s offer.
