The dynamic development of the renewable energy sector in Poland translates into an increase in the number of photovoltaic installations. Without a doubt, converting solar energy into savings on bills is a tempting alternative. However, in order to produce your own energy, the installation must be reliable and maintain proper technical condition for years.
Thermal imaging of photovoltaic panels
Photovoltaic panels require regular inspection and diagnostics to maintain the smooth operation and efficiency of the modules, and consequently the efficiency of electricity production. The modules are constantly exposed to atmospheric factors. Due to their high sensitivity, regular inspection of the devices is very important.
Photovoltaic module failures are characterized by the Hot Spot effect. These are excessively heated areas on individual cells, resulting from shading or mechanical damage caused by, among others, transport or hail. The temperature at the location of hot spots reaches up to 250 degrees Celsius. Series connection of individual cells causes all cells to be switched off when only one of them is damaged. Such damage translates into energy production losses of up to 25%.
Thermographic inspection allows you to determine the temperature distribution on the surfaces of objects, which is why it is a great tool for checking the condition of installations. Contactless, without interfering with the devices, information about the correct operation of the devices is obtained. For the inspection to be correct, it must work in normal operating mode – i.e. with loaded panels, the solar intensity should not be lower than 500-600 W/m2, and the weather conditions should be stable – dry and cloudless weather.
Leave the inspection of your photovoltaic installation to specialists!
TERMOCENT provides professional inspection services of the technical condition of devices that make up the entire PV installation – modules, inverters, or switchboards. We carry out inspections of cable connections, junction boxes, blocking diodes.
Suitable conditions for carrying out the test combined with the professional knowledge of our thermographers is a guarantee of maintaining the reliability of electricity production!
